Recording available: Assessing suspected acute coronary syndrome in the community

Published: 30 October 2026

A recording of the HealthPathways education session Assessing suspected acute coronary syndrome (ACS) safely in the community, held on 21 October 2026, is now available to watch.

The session brings together experts from general practice, emergency medicine and HealthPathways to explore how the national ACS pathway and high-sensitivity troponin testing can support the assessment of selected patients in community settings.

Using practical cases and clinical insights, the session covers:

  • Why the national ACS pathway was developed.

  • The importance of clinical history, examination and ECG before troponin testing.

  • Selecting appropriate patients for troponin testing and knowing when to refer to hospital.

  • Understanding high-sensitivity troponin testing, including local assay thresholds.

  • Applying the pathway in general practice, urgent care and rural settings.

The recording is relevant to GPs, nurse practitioners, paramedics and clinicians working in urgent care.
